Join me for a focused, six-day landscape painting workshop in Tuscany — a place where rolling hills, small stone villages, and that unmistakable Italian light create a setting that almost demands to be painted. This week is built around real plein-air practice: two outdoor painting sessions each day, structured learning, and the space to work seriously without distractions. You’ll learn classical outdoor oil-painting methods, receive direct one-to-one guidance, see demonstrations, and get honest feedback throughout the entire workshop.

We work in the Mugello region, an area that offers calm, open landscapes and plenty of strong motif possibilities. The group is limited to ten participants to ensure proper time, attention, and a personal learning experience. With accommodation, meals, transport and materials taken care of, you have the freedom to focus entirely on painting and being present in the landscape.

The workshop is hosted at a rustic stone villa near the village of Borgo San Lorenzo, about forty minutes from Florence. The area is known for its ceramics, old churches, olive trees and vineyards and it’s ideal for painters looking for both quiet and inspiration. We paint on the villa property as well as on short excursions to nearby viewpoints and small villages. During the week we also visit a local winery, La Matteraia, for a tasting, and spend time in Borgo San Lorenzo itself. When you’re not painting, the villa’s garden and common areas offer plenty of calm places to rest, read, sketch or simply let the work settle.

What’s Included

Your stay covers the full six-day workshop (four full painting days and two half days), along with seven nights of accommodation in either a private or shared room. All meals are included: breakfasts and lunches every day and five home-cooked dinners inspired by simple, local Italian cooking. On painting excursions, we bring packed picnics to eat directly on location.

Airport transfers to and from Florence on April 26 and May 3 are included, and all local transport during the workshop is arranged for you. You also get full access to the villa’s outdoor spaces, gardens, and the various painting locations we visit throughout the week. All necessary painting materials are provided, though you’re welcome to bring your own favourites if you prefer your personal setup.

Partners or spouses who do not paint are welcome to join at a reduced rate. They take part in meals and excursions and are free to enjoy the area at their own pace while we paint.

Who Can Join?

This workshop is open to all levels. Beginners who want clear structure and guidance are fully supported, and experienced painters will find plenty of room for depth and serious work. The aim is simple: to create a calm, focused environment where you can develop your plein-air practice in a landscape that genuinely helps you do the work.

Non-painting partners are also invited, but painting participants will be priority. Non-painting partners can of course join at a discounted price.
