Fossekleiva & Berger - En plein air

Exploring the relation between humanity, nature and industry, in a period and at a place where industry has shaped the surroundings, and where culture now replaces it. Over twelve Monumental paintings, painted in situ; en plein air. Painted on individual locations, over the span of two and a half years.

In June 2026, the project will, (aside from it’s all year around accessibility to the public) it’s essence and process be shown over two weekends in form of a curated exhibition outdoors, and in 2027 it will be exhibited at Fossekleiva Kultursenter.

The process if this work, is as much the point as the paintings themselves, and the work is always open to the public, so do not feel afraid to interrupt it. I encourage you to have a look, a talk, for however long you want, you will find me outdoors.

Currently 10 images is on display, in situ, their original location of creation. During the dates 6 - 7th & 13 - 14th of June. Opening hours from 13.00 - 16.00 (1pm-4pm)

This project has been underway for a year currently. The original production format was a year, but it has since been prolonged. Several of the paintings are finished, some are yet to reach their final form, and more will be painted during this year and the next.

So some of what you are seeing is paintings perhaps only half-way finished. But the finished work is not the point, it is rather the opposite, to let nature guide and decide the path forward, to let the weather, seasons and conditions guide what happens. It is with a clear intention, I try to succumb to the laws of nature, the act with it, listen to it, and play along. To lay down before the universe in reverence, with devotion as your guide.

It is for me, a way to emphasize presence, meaning both yourself in tune with nature, and the feel of the painting. It should be open, to step in to, to feel alive within. Fossekleiva & Berger - En plein air
